Steven Foster

Hear stories behind the famous songs from one who was a part of this unique time in musical history. What inspired Bob Dylan and Donovan to write their songs, and their musical rivalry, not always cordial!

Steve Foster, one of the few songwriters endorsed by Bob Dylan to sing his songs, gives you an insight into how songwriters, including himself, write about their idols and their lives, both rich and poor.
Travel back in time to a simpler era of love and peace, and music that would change the world.

50 years later, people the world over still sing their songs, and Steve shares glimpses into their lives and how it affected his music and his life.

Steve has performed all over Australia, from opening act of the touring Bootleg Family with Brian Cadd, performing with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, support act to The Byrds and Steel Eye Span at the Festival Theatre etc, and an early band with Bonn Scott.

Steve Foster Music

Steve Foster made his first original recording while still at school, and is still writing, performing and recording music all over Australia. From the early days of touring Australia as the opening act for the Bootleg Family with Brian Cadd, to performing and recording with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Steve writes and performs in all genres: folk, country, rock, bluegrass, R&B even jazz. His current project is the film music and song for “Paris or the Bush”, a film/documentary about the Australian rowing team from Murray Bridge (Steve’s home town!) who beat the odds and went to the Paris Olympics in the 1920’s.

He has a large cult following in Europe as the co-writer with Graeham Goble of Little River Band’s million seller hit “Forever Blue” with John Farnham singing lead vocals. Steve is an Australia Day Ambassador, freely giving his time across the State to promote all things Australian, especially music, and he runs a very successful music rehabilitation program at the Repatriation General Hospital for sufferers of dementia and PTSD.
